Many people don't realise
that the optimal period for learning in a puppy's development is between the
ages of 7 to 12 weeks - precisely the time that you are bringing them home and
settling them into their new environment! This is the perfect time to begin to
teach them basic household manners, as well as how to behave appropriately with
other people and dogs. My puppy program provides you with the opportunity to
learn how to teach your puppy appropriate behaviours (such as mat training,
giving you their attention, sitting calmly and coming when called). It also gives you an important opportunity to socialise your puppy with
other puppies in a safe and controlled environment. My puppy program
is 5 weeks in length (1 hour per week); the first week guardians come without
their puppies so we can discuss training issues, toilet training and other puppy
behaviours and address any particular problems you may be experiencing.

The focus of puppy training is to lay the foundations to train your puppy to behave calmly and appropriately in all situations, both when at home and when out in public. We focus on basic pet dog manners - during the program, your puppy will learn the 'basic' behaviours such as pay attention to you, sit, drop, 'give', coming when called and settling on their bed/mat. Overall though, we make sure that training is enjoyable for both you and your puppy. All activities are undertaken in a controlled and supervised environment. Throughout the program we also cover a range of 'education' issues such as local council laws, environmental enrichment activities, grooming, health and husbandry practices, nutrition and socialisation experiences (and how to do this safely!) Numbers are always limited to between 4-5 puppies so that I can ensure you receive individual attention.
